The location of my Trek 03 is on the UWM campus. I wanted to continue with that location from my first two treks. I did explore a lot of east and south sides of Mitchell Hall. These are the sides that are adjacent to Downer Ave and Kenwood Blvd. I knew this would be refreshing because I never have seen this side of the campus before because I just hadn’t the need to. I wasn’t sure what I was looking for in this particular spot, but I just kept my questions at hand. I thought this site would be promising because it was new to me and hoped that it ignite new capturing strategies.
I will limit my image capturing activities by capturing “fall” as a season and as a theme. Along with that I will incorporate into each other “fall” and urban surroundings and activities. I want to capture images that say “although cold and freezing, work still needs to be done.”
I will limit my sound capturing activities by recording exclusively nature and exclusively city. I think that will be a challenge especially on the UWM campus where both can be found, but finding each cut off from each other will be a task.I will use the power of machines and combine that with the serenity of nature and hopefully create a pleasing existence in a sound video.

Ten Questions
1. Which animals are most active this time of year in the UWM area?
2. Does each automobile have a distinct sound as it drives by?
3. What is the duration of each traffic light?
4. Which streets are busiests and not so busy in the UWM area?
5. How close can I get to a construction site?
6. What time of day would be best to capture automobiles on the move?
7. How do nature and urban life co-exist?
8. Do people mind being recording for a reason unknown to them?
9. Is it even possible to avoid a Fall theme?

Assessmentt #4
My favorite experience overall had to have been my closest encounter with a squirrel ever. It happened on my Trek 03 as I was video recording leaves on the ground there was a squirrel lurking amongst the leaves. I didn’t notice it at first, but it got my startled attention when it jittered up onto a picnic table next to me. I recorded it nibbling at its hands and looking at me. It moved closer to me as if it wanted something. It was about two feet away from me when I made the decision to flee.
Assessment #3
There were a few situations that caught me off guard and that were not expectations of mine. During my Trek 02, I was recording a video of a puddle on the ground. I thought it would be obvious to those around me that if I have a camera aimed at an object, that I would be taking a picture of some sort. Well, as I was recording someone walks nearly right over the puddle and right through my shot. I don’t know if it was a lack of consideration or just being oblivious to my situation. If you see someone with a camera, I feel it’s common courtesy to make an attempt to move from the shot. I just didn’t expect that.
Another situation on my Trek 02 that I found surprising is very much related to the first. I’m taking pictures of traffic lights and of course there are people either waiting at the corners to cross the street or waiting for the bus. As I’m doing that, I’m considerate of others’ personal space, but I felt like others were in mine. It was difficult at times to get a unique shot when people were standing right next to you and rushing right by you. Again, I expected the camera would be a good enough prop for people to consider.
There was a “deeper” reality I discovered as I was on my Trek 01. Those sound recorders are a really neat instrument for capturing sound. I was really in tune and contemplative with familiar sounds that I had often heard before, but never took the time to really listen to. The down side to that was that I would occasionally zone into people’s conversations and I’m not the kind of person who does that. I would be recording an environmental sound and then a conversation sparks and I hear it very clearly although the people might believe they’re in a safe distance from me. I found the Trek 01 to be invasive at times, but for the most part it was very aesthetic to the ears.

Assessment #2
It was during Trek 01 when I was recording the sound of wind rustling through the leaves of a tree that I found to be unusually peaceful. I had never heard the sound so close and so surrounding before. There were people around talking, but the sound rushing through my headphones forced everything else out.
Also during my Trek 01, was a situation where I encountered some birds chirping high up in some trees near the corner of an intersection. I found this to be relaxing because through all the loud traffic sounds, I could still hear these tiny birds and there were only a few just chirping away.

Assessment #1
One situation that caused me some stress was when I was trying to record people’s reflections as they walked past a window. It was so stressful because they would notice me with my camera and stray from their normal path moving out of the way and ultimately disrupting their potential reflection. So I decided that shot wouldn’t work for my Trek 02.
Another situation that I found aggravating was waiting for a specific sound to occur again. I had caught church bells ringing, but I was only able to record a few seconds of it hoping they would ring again during my Trek 01, but never did.
